Terms, & Conditions
1. LIABILITY WAIVER - Every effort will be made to provide proper guidance to avoid, and/or limit the risk of any personal injury or damage to property where possible. Students assume all risks related to the use, practice, care, and performance of musical instruments, both at home and in spaces utilized by Con Moto Music Centre Ltd. Students agree to release and hold harmless Con Moto Music Centre Ltd. from any cause of action, claims or demands, both now and in the future.
2. CODE OF CONDUCT - Students and parents are expected to comply with facility rules. There will be zero tolerance for any unlawful, violent, abusive, rude, or disrespectful behaviour from any student, or their parent/guardian(s). Such an incident may result in forfeiting future lessons, without refund or credit. Parents/guardians are responsible for their own behaviour and/or the behaviour of their children while on the premises.
3. ENROLMENT - Students may enrol in lessons at any point in the year, and in doing so commit to all relevant lesson days in the regular lesson year or remainder thereof. The regular lesson year follows a 10 month calendar from the beginning of September to the end of the following June. Students may continue their lessons over the summer months, and may schedule them more freely. Students wishing to take July and August off from lessons may secure their spot in an upcoming Fall season with a non-refundable deposit of $100.00. This deposit will be applied to the following September’s tuition.
While lessons are open to students of all ages, it is recommended the student be able to count to 10, and both read and recite the alphabet without assistance. Students under the age of 6 will be accepted at the discretion of the Instructor.
4. ENSEMBLES - Regular ensembles may require participants to audition. Auditions typically take place in August and January and audition requirements will be made available beforehand. Special ensembles may also run over the Summer season with enrolment opening in early June.
5. RECITALS - There is an annual recital at the end of both the Fall and Spring seasons. These recitals offer students the opportunity to demonstrate their accomplishments and those of their peers in a supportive environment. While students will never be forced to participate, it is strongly encouraged.
6. SCHEDULING - Schedule availability is subject to change and lesson times are offered on a first-come, first-served basis. It is the student’s responsibility to account for lesson times, including any schedule changes or make-ups. Lessons may be conducted in the following ways:
• Weekly lessons will occur on the same day and time every week and may be scheduled during any available time slot, in either 30min or 60min increments. 45min lessons may be available at the Instructor’s discretion. Weekly lessons are booked on a monthly recurring basis.
• Bi-weekly lessons will occur on the same day and time every second week and are only available in 60min increments, and at the Instructor’s discretion. Availability for bi-weekly lessons times may be restricted. Bi-weekly lessons are booked on a monthly recurring basis.
• Drop-in lessons will occur on singular days and times, and are subject to schedule availability. Drop-in lessons are available in either 30min or 60min increments.
7. TUITION & BILLING - Tuition rates are subject to change and are set each September. Tuition is due on or before your first lesson, and may be paid in full for the year, or monthly for the lessons scheduled in a given month. Monthly payments are due prior to the first lesson of each month, and lessons may not be conducted until tuition is paid. A valid credit card must be kept on file in order to be eligible for monthly payments. Tuition can be paid by cash, debit card, credit card, or by Interac e-transfer to lessons@conmotomusic.com.
All tuition is non-refundable.
8. MAKE-UPS - In order to be eligible for a make-up, notice must be given prior to the scheduled start time of the lesson. Notice may be provided by phone/text to (250) 218-9044 or by email to lessons@conmotomusic.com. Notice may also be given up to 1hr prior via the student portal.
Make-up lessons may be conducted in-person, or online at the Instructor’s discretion, and are subject to availability. Make-ups must be conducted within 14 days of the original lesson, may not be taken in lieu of regular lessons, and cannot be rescheduled. It is the student’s responsibility to schedule make-ups, either by contacting us, or self-serve through the student portal.
Any lesson missed without prior notice will be considered a NO SHOW. If a student is more than 10 minutes late to a lesson without prior notice it may be considered a NO SHOW and the remainder of the lesson forfeit. Any lesson deemed a NO SHOW will be ineligible for a make-up, without exception. Ensembles, workshops, performances, recitals, and masterclasses are not eligible for make-ups.
9. CANCELLATIONS - Any lessons cancelled by either the Instructor or Con Moto Music Centre Ltd. will be made-up. In the rare event that a make-up cannot be scheduled, a credit for the affected lesson(s) will be applied to the student’s next tuition payment.
10. ILLNESS -If a student is sick or feeling unwell, they must not attend any in-person lessons for the duration of their illness. Effected lesson(s) may be conducted online at the Instructor’s discretion, or a make-up may be scheduled. Any student who is demonstrating symptoms of being sick or unwell will be immediately asked to leave and the lesson will be forfeit. No exceptions.
11. EXTREME WEATHER - In the event that extreme weather (i.e heavy snowfall, high wind & rain etc.) prevents the student form being able to attend an in-person lesson, the option may be provided to conduct their scheduled lesson online at the Instructor’s discretion, or a make-up may be provided as scheduling permits. No credit, or refund will be issued. In the event of a power outage, a make-up may be provided as scheduling permits. In the rare event no make-up can be scheduled, a credit for the affected lesson(s) will be applied to the student’s next tuition payment.
12. TERMINATING LESSONS- If for any reason you wish to discontinue lessons, simply inform us in-person, by phone/text at (250) 218-9044, or by email at lessons@conmotomusic.com. For students paying their tuition monthly, a $100.00 cancelation fee will be charged if lessons are terminated prior to the end of a regular lesson year. All tuition is non-refundable, and any unused lessons or Make-up credits will be forfeit.
13. COMMUNICATION POLICY - Con Moto Music Centre Ltd. may communicate important information regarding scheduling, practice materials, ensemble/performance/recital information through phone, email, and/or text messages. It is important that parents & students check these outlets regularly. Con Moto Music Centre Ltd. will never solicit personal financial information via email, text messages, or social media.
14. ELECTRONIC DEVICES - Electronic devices such as a smartphone or tablet may be used during lessons exclusively for purposes related to education. These uses include the use of a metronome or tuner app, and/or the playing of relevant audio/video content. During online lessons, screen sharing may be used to display materials, or relevant audio/video content.
